Yoga Therapy
Wendy’s traditional ashtanga and vinyasa flow teachings evolved over time with her continued education in yoga therapy with liv-INg-yoga with jasmine lieb and in osteopathy with Drs. Kirsten Mackey, Adam Silver and Guy Voyer. She incorporates this advanced education into her public classes and private sessions to target specific areas of pathology where yoga alone may fail to reach. Yoga postures tend to be perfect progressions for both ELDOA™ and SOMA strengthening postures and stretches. Wendy’s motivation for transitioning from traditional ashtanga and vinyasa flow to hatha yoga therapy was a result of healing her own traumatic neck injury. Her road to recovery forced her to developed body awareness. Through this she noticed in herself and in others, that we go through activities of daily living without thought as to how we move about the world.
Wendy’s formal yoga therapy training was through liv-INg-yoga with jasmine lieb. liv-INg-yoga with jasmine lieb is a fully integrated, comprehensive 1000+ hour teacher training, a member of International Association of Yoga Therapists and is a registered school with Yoga Alliance. The course work is based on the original teachings and studies of Krishnamacharya through TKV Desikachar, BKS Iyengar, K Pattabi Jois, Srivata Ramaswami, A.G. Mohan, Indra Devi and Richard Miller.
This is a method of practicing and teaching yoga that supports the therapeutic qualities of yoga- preventing injury while simultaneously rehabilitating physical, energetic and emotional challenges throughout all stages of life and within all levels of a yoga practice.
